Philip Chapman
Philip’s grandparents were musicians, and in the 1940s they had a dance band, his grandmother played the piano and his grandfather the cello. Philip’s grandmother was also a music teacher and regularly played the organ in churches.
Despite Philip being very close to his grandmother; Philip showed no interest or aptitude in music as a child. However, after Philip’s grandmother died in 1984 he suddenly felt he had to learn to play an instrument and purchased a Hammond organ. Philip found he could play the instrument with ease and shortly after started to write music. Over the next twelve months Philip’s interest in music increased dramatically and he started to record his own compositions.
His mother who is a psychic artist, clairvoyant and healer suggested he should turn his compositions into music to support holistic practitioners and those looking for music to relax and mediate. Philip followed this guidance and within a year he had produced his first two albums. Locally his compositions started to sell and gain a following of listeners. Inspired by this Philip sent both albums to the National Federation of Spiritual Healers and to his delight they ordered 100 of each title – his first large order.
Later that year Philip attended the Mind, Body and Spirit exhibition in London and met Colin Wilcox, the founder of New World Music, impressed by how well the music was selling, Colin offered Philip a recording contract and Philip’s career in music was launched and continues today. To date Philip has written 18 albums and his music is continues to be bought and used all over the world for meditation, healing and relaxation.
Philip also writes and produces music for his second passion – filming and photography. Over the past few years and by special commission he has diversified into producing training films. Philip enjoys composing music for these films and has found photography and filming another opportunity to showcase and share his unique talents.
